  • The back end of the Hallsgrímskirkja church in Reykjavik, with the design based on the country's basalt columns. Designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, and built in 1937. At the time I visited the front was under scaffolding, as it was undergoing major structural repair in 2008-9.
